Roaring success for first Christmas Fair

One of the first Christmas fairs to take place in the town was Castle Junior School's fair, held in November.

Crowds of visitors made the most of the opportunity to call in and do some early Christmas shopping.  Stall reported a brisk trade with bric-a-brac, books, toys, Christmas calendars and cards and cakes some of the good selling particularly well.

Pocket money priced stalls attracted the youngsters whilst the 'secret present' room was kept busy all morning with children buying secret Christmas gifts for members of the family.

No fair would be complete without a visit from Santa and the great man himself made a popular appearance during the morning to deliver presents to the enthusiastic children.
